Usually a goal for myself would be something along the lines of exercising more or eating healthier. Although I could do better in the eating healthy department, I have made good gains in exercising more with my kickboxing and karate classes. However, exercising takes, well, time! This leaves me even less time after the kids go to bed to get everything I need to get done.
Just about every night I am doing a combination of grading papers, writing lesson plans, trying to maybe blog or read blogs, and watching TV with the facade that I am "relaxing". On the nights that I fall asleep before 11:00, all of those things are waiting for me in the morning and I will get up before 5:00 to try to get some more things done. What am I doing wrong? Maybe it is my age and the fact that my kids are young. But, then I think that it will get worse as they get older and are involved in more activities...then one day...POOF!
They'll be out of the house! :(
So, my "1 For Me" is to enjoy each day and stop working so hard A.L.L. the time! It's in my nature to be a hard worker/multi-tasker but I know when I've reached my limit. I took a longer break than normal from blogging over Christmas vacation and it was so nice to focus on relaxing and not the mile long to-do list. It was also the first Christmas vacation that I can recall where I didn't begin a new home improvement project or start a new TPT product! I am halfway through the third book in the Divergent series, Allegiant and it has been so nice to sit and read without doing anything else!
Cheers to 2014! What would be your "1 For Me"?
Thanks for the inspiration, Tara! :)
Instead of a resolution which I never seem to keep, I'm making a promise to myself to become physically fit & in doing so lose weight (& keep it off).
ReplyDeleteI have the same goal…sometimes it seems pointless to work so hard because no matter how much we work, there is still always more to do!

Literacy Spark
I'm just trying to take better care of myself this year!
ReplyDeleteI need to find a way to find time for everything - time to blog, do housework, play with the kids, and on and on. But I too want to read the Veronica Roth series!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to try to be more organized in the new year!
ReplyDeleteBalance, balance, balance!
ReplyDeleteMy goal is to try to 1 thing a month that is just for me as an individual, not as a mom or a teacher.
ReplyDeleteMy new years resolution is to take it day by day and to try to do more for me!
