IT'S FINALLY HERE...TPT Back to School Linky!

It's here, it's here!
As we are all prepping our classrooms, going through professional development, or in survival beginning of the school year mode, we have been anxiously waiting to hear when our favorite and most wish-listed products will go on sale at TPT.

It's just about time for the best sale of the year (in my opinion!).
The back to school TPT sale will take place August 18-19th!
Is your wish list ready?

In celebration of this momentous event, myself and a group of wonderful wonderful bloggers came together to create a fun linky to showcase our shopping carts and our favorite products.

If there's one thing we teachers love to do, it's shop for our classrooms, right?

Join us by linking up with 2 of the top wish-listed products in your store and 1 product on your wish-list you just have to purchase
If you're not a blogger or TPTer, still feel free to comment with your most wish-listed item!

The #1 most wish listed item from my TPT store is the Monster Fraction centers.

The #2 most wish listed item from my TPT store is the Line Plots with Fractions centers.

One item I am super excited about to purchase on my wish list are the Reading Response Menus Bundle (Fiction and Nonfiction) by Joanne at Head Over Heels for Teaching.
If you read about the BIG CHANGE from my post yesterday, you will see that I will be concentrating a lot of effort on ELA this year!  One hurdle our team faced was what the students would do for morning work during arrival time.  Students arrive from 7:40-7:55 and announcements are at 8:00.  In the past, we all started with math and students began the day with math morning work as soon as they arrived and turned in homework from the night before.  However, this year, since we are departmentalizing and will be teaching our "subject" to our homeroom for the first block (students will start with math, ELA, or SS/Science depending on their homeroom teacher), it didn't make sense to have the students work on math everyday.  I am teaching ELA and already feel like I need more time...math doesn't need 20 minutes extra a day!  Lol.  So, we are planning to split the time between ELA and math for morning work.

A couple days a week, the students will work on extra math practice until Block 1 officially begins and a couple days they will work on ELA.  I think these reading response menus will be a perfect fit for a morning work activity to accompany the fiction book they are currently reading or a nonfiction selection!  They can keep the mini folders right in homeroom.

What is on your wish list?

Back to School Blogger Exchange and Teacher's Notebook Sale!!

I was so excited to take part in a "Back to School Blogger Exchange" hosted by Adventures of Ms. Smith and Covered in Glitter and Glue this past month!
I was paired up with an amazing fourth grade blogger, Bethany, at Fab and Fun in 4th!
She sent her package pretty early since she was going on vacation and I was so surprised when I got it!  This is what I saw when I opened my box:
Everything was wrapped in colored tissue paper!!  It was like Christmas! :)
First, I opened the super sweet note from Bethany:)
She is so creative and wrote an inspirational quote on the first post-it note of each stack!
I love the owl stickers (they match my room!), the smash quotes are right up my alley since I scrapbook, and the post-it flags were on my to-buy list!
I can't wait to use these pens and how fun are the bright colors of these clips in a little jar?
A purple binder and fabulous owl folder! Yay!!
And...a little inspirational reading from Chicken Soup for the Soul.  Oh, there are days I can use this!
Thank you so much, Bethany!!

This was the view from my classroom window when I left school today.  We are supposed to get 13-24 more inches in the next "24-hour event" with white out conditions as seen here.  Dare I hope for another snow day???  The 40 mph winds will be a huge factor....we shall see.  This would be our third snow day this year (the first was a "hurricane" day for Sandy).
I think we are making up for last year when we had ZERO snow days and only had about 100" total (average is about 200" with a record of just under 300" not too many years ago!).
