Five for Fraturday and Student Motivation!

It has been seriously forever since I linked up with a Five for Friday with Doodle Bugs Teaching! Of course, I am late to the party but I was bound and determined to get it done!

I blogged about using Folktales in the classroom here and some information about my students writing their own fables here.  On Friday, the students finished typing their fables in the computer lab and I posted some on our "Look Who's Writing" bulletin board in the hallway!
I will be posting a new Facebook fan freebie tomorrow that goes along with the fable project.

We had our Homework Stars party for students who had none or only one late homework assignment during January. This month's party was an ice cream sundae and lunch in the classroom!

We told the students that the reward for February would be a candy store during lunchtime in the classroom! I got this idea here from the amazing duo Amanda and Stacia at Collaboration Cuties!  Since this definitely falls into the realm of Sparking Student Motivation, I am linking up with my BBB, Joanne, at Head Over Heels for Teaching for her weekly linky. I do have to say that homework completion this week has been the best it has been in awhile. We usually don't let the students know what the Homework Stars reward will be but decided to change things up a bit this time. What student would say that they don't care if they miss the CANDY STORE?!? :)

Our family has been spending a good portion of our Sundays since January at cheerleading competitions! We are headed out tomorrow morning at 7 a.m. for another one! They are a ton of fun but leave us exhausted by the end of the day. Here is my daughter and I at a competition last weekend. She is holding her baby doll that has a matching cheer uniform. :)

We have been busy getting ready for our trip at the end of next week! I am beyond excited to be going to Disney for the first time!! Our kids are ages 6 and 3 (almost 4) and cannot wait to share this amazing trip with the family! :)
This picture represents the LOVE I felt this past week from my BBB's (Best Blogging Buddies!). They knew what a rough couple weeks I had with deaths in my family and sent me a little love in the mail!!! It was such a blessing to receive their thoughtful gift at a difficult time for my family! Thank you also to all the wonderful readers out there who follow this little blog. I appreciate you! :)

Have a great rest of the weekend everyone!!

  2. We have a special lunch every month for the students who are our Word Count Wizards (read the most words in a month as measured by AR tests). Last month, it was subs from Subway and this month, it will be a Nacho Bar. I like the idea of doing something special for students who do all of their homework as well. I'm going to share this with my team for next year. :)

Have a great time at Disney! You and your kids will make such great memories!
