Ahhh...an organization linky! I am really striving to be organized but I have SO much work to do this summer in my storage closet and filing cabinets. I plan to take pictures of that mess and then show you before and after pictures after it is done this summer!
For now, I am linking up with two amazing ladies, Elizabeth at Fun in Room 4B and Kristen at Ladybug's Teacher Files for their Optimum Organization linky. All the ideas I am sharing with you below are new organization techniques that I implemented this year. Most of them have worked out great but I still need to tweak some too. :)

My biggest organization disappointment was one of my summer projects that I made to keep my writing and reading conferences for Daily 5 organized. I worked to make a divider in this binder for each student with pages to record notes for writing and reading conferences.
Why did it disappoint me? It was too large and cumbersome to carry everywhere and I found that the conferences needed to be fairly quick if I could get even close to fitting them in. My plan this summer is to get organized again and use some sticker labels for individual conferences like this idea by Jivey at Ideas by Jivey. I can carry around a clipboard and stick my notes from the label into my binder later! This will be so much easier to manage.
I can hardly wait until summer to begin organizing even more areas of my classroom!
It is in dire need!!
Wow, it looks like you are very organized to me! Don't you love that storage that holds up so you don't have to do anything next year? I think this will be the first year I will keep so many things the same...and it just makes me feel lighter! I know what you mean about the binder for the conferences. Even after all of this time, I still haven't figured out how best to do that. Thanks so much for linking up with us! :)
ReplyDeleteLook at all of your organization! I love the "Be Wise...Organize" title above your agenda board (we use the same board). I think I MUST add that next year to my board. It really reminds students that they have to be organized and check that board often! I'm wanting to organize my math conferencing notes, too. I'll have to check out Jivey's post (if I haven't already...I might have forgotten) :) Thanks for linking up!!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of the homework board... Be wise, organize... I am stealing that for next year!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!!!

Aw! Thanks for the shout-out! It really does help because I'm like you- I feel like my binder was just too much to carry. And this way, I'm not flipping through all my pages trying to find the kid I'm talking to... I can talk to 10 different kids and never flip a page! :) I'm like you- summer is always when I make my organization attempts. Why is it so hard to stay with it through the year?? ;-)

Love the homework board title. I want to do the stickers too, flipping drove me nuts this year.
ReplyDeleteI made myself some handy printable sheets of labels with the little icons from the D5 pages so that I can just "clipboard it" at conferences. Being able to just stick the labels in later really is helpful!
